The mosquito larvae occur in all kinds of surface water, even in cloudy and polluted water. They often live on the bottom in small holes. The carp comes across them when stirring the bottom. As soon as the larvae pupate they emerge and are a weak prey for many species of fish, including carp. Mosquito larvae are a very recognizable bait for many fish. The larvae consist of 55% proteins!
